‘Art-Animation-Tech’ Competition

Bengaluru GAFX Conference 2017 is a great platform to exhibit your talent, get noticed and also win exciting prizes. It’s not only about winning, but also participating, rubbing shoulders with industry professionals and showing a strong effort thus taking a meaningful step in the right direction for growth.

The ‘Art-Animation-Tech Competition‘ is a test of creative/technical skills and physical endurance. The participants battle it out to put in their best in limited timeframe and claim the coveted Bengaluru GAFX Champion’s title.

This competition will have two separate categories – Professional and Students.

If you feel you have what it takes to be creatively and physically challenged anywhere from 8 hours to 30 hours, this competition is for you.

All participants will assemble under a common roof on the given days and compete to create the most compelling art, animation and piece of technology in a controlled setting.

The champions take home exciting prizes and will wear the winner’s title till the next year’s edition.

To participate in the competition, you must REGISTER and follow all the relevant guidelines outlined here:

● The last date for registrations for competitions is May 5, 2017. The short-listed participants will be announced by May 8, 2017.
● There will be a nominal registration fee per competition entry to cover costs of the supplies and other resources. The fee is to be paid for by only the shortlisted participants. The payment must be done by May 10, 2017. This is to make sure we are receiving valid and interested entries.
● Participants applying under the students’ category must present their original photo a valid student ID-Proof.
● If you are both a student (valid student ID required) and working professional, you will be qualified as a student and we will also require details of your current employment.
● Guidelines pertaining to software, supplies and other logistics will be shared closer to the competition date.
● For the Character Animation Competition, an exclusive Character Rig will be provided by Native Puppets.
● Experts from the industry will judge the entries. No offensive, sexual, religious, regional or derogatory content should be created.
● Shortlisted participants must make their own travel arrangements to the venue – Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru for the days of the competition. It is strongly recommended to be in Bengaluru a day prior to the event i.e. May 11, 2017. This will help ensure that you are comfortable and have all queries resolved before the start of the competition on May 13, 2017.
● Since this is a competition, participants must factor strenuous working conditions and approach the competition in a healthy manner. Organizers will not be held responsible under any circumstances.
● To accommodate the participants, organizers will provide limited sleeping bags, refreshments.
● Please kindly note, locker facilities will not be available and you are responsible for your own belongings.
● The whole idea of the competitions is to enjoy and celebrate the process in a unique and fun way.
● Mentoring is an integral part of the competition. There will be industry experts around the competition floor to offer mentoring at certain stages of the competition to all participants. Absolutely fantastic opportunity to get mentored and recognized by industry experts.

Important Dates

1. May 5, 2017 : Last date to register for the Art and Animation competition

3. May 8, 2017 : Announcement of shortlisted participants for Art and Animation competition with the entry fee details and mode of payment.
4. May 10, 2017 : Last date for payment of registration fee by shortlisted participants.
5. Theme to the competition and other specific details pertaining to this category will be revealed just before the start of the competition.
6. The ‘Registration’ for the Art & Animation competition will be open till the 11:59 PM, May 5, 2017 and for the Hackathon it will be open till 11.59 PM, May 8, 2017
7. Winners will be announced by end of Day 3 of the event – May 14th, 2017.

Judging Criteria

1. A panel of experts from the Industry will judge the competition.
2. Click on the respective categories for the judging criteria.
3. The decision of the judges is final and no discussion will be entertained over the decision.
4. You will be purely judged based on your skills. Use all the extra time to polish your entry than spending time on things that will not be accounted for your entry.
5. The planning process will also be one of the deciding factors in the judging process.

Terms and Conditions

1. Participants must be 18 years and above.
2. Entry must be made directly by the participants entering the competition by filling up the respective registration form.
3. The organizers will not be responsible in case any registration has been ‘submitted but NOT received’ – reasons attributed to technical issues or any such reason. No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost or delayed due to technical issues. You should be receiving acknowledgement mail for your entry submitted. If you do not receive a confirmation and the money is debited kindly write back to us on
4. The organizers reserves the right to amend or alter the terms of competitions and reject entries from entrants not entering the spirit of the competition.
5. The winner agrees to the use of his or her name, photograph and will co-operate with any other reasonable requests made by the organizers of the competition relating to any post-event publicity.
6. Use of a false name or incorrect details will result in disqualification.
7. Competitions rules, guidelines may be modified or withdrawn at any time, as deemed necessary by the organizers. Judge’s decision will be final.
8. By entering this participants, participants agree to release and hold harmless the organizers of the competition, sponsor, supporters and their respective employees, representatives, from any liability for any loss or damage of any kind to the entrant or any other person in connection with this competition or participation in any competition related activities, including but not limited to the use or misuse of a prize or any portion of a prize.
9. The organizers of the competition reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend this competition should external circumstances arise which are beyond the reasonable control of the competition organizer.
10. The organizers retain the right to refuse or revoke entry to any participant, where they believe that accepting the entry could prejudice the event, the promotion of the event, organization of the event, their sponsors, associates or staff.
11. Respective prize sponsors will be responsible for its timely distribution.
