Shelley Page is currently International Animation Talent Consultant for leading animation studios including Netflix Animation (USA), DreamWorks Animation (USA), Aardman Animations (UK), HB Wink (China), 88 Pictures (India) and Wizart (Russia). She is based in London.
Shelley has been working in the field of feature animation since 1986.
Her career in animation began when she joined the London studio of legendary animation director Richard Williams from 1982 – which ultimately led to a position as head of backgrounds on the Walt Disney film ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’ (1988).
In 1989 she was hired by Steven Spielberg as one of the original team of artists at the Amblimation Studio in London where she worked on animation feature films until recruited in early 1995 as one of the first team of artists to join Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen’s new studio, DreamWorks.
Since joining DreamWorks Animation as co-head of Artist Development, Shelley has worked in many areas of feature animation production at the studio. She participated in the launch of major new studio locations in India and China – which led to establishing her continuing associations with schools and festivals in both countries.
After 22 years with the studio, she left Dreamworks Animation in late 2016 to take up new career opportunities as a talent consultant.
Shelley’s 36+ feature film credits to date include: ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’, ‘The Prince Of Egypt’, ‘Shrek’, ‘Madagascar’, ‘Kung Fu Panda’ and ‘How to Train Your Dragon’.
She also regulary teaches classes at many leading animation schools worldwide in her capacities as Visiting Professor and External Examiner.
Her current projects include building relationships with leading animation schools and studios in Europe, China, India and the USA, speaking at animation and film festivals worldwide and sourcing new talent for future projects.
Shelley is also a regular member of the awards juries of international animation festivals including: Annecy (France), Trickfilmfestival (Stuttgart), Encounters (UK), Anilogue (Hungary), Siggraph (USA and Asia), GAFX and 24FPS (India) and Aniwow! and CICAF (China).
She is an advisory board member of 3D World magazine (UK), and FMX conference (Stuttgart).
She also serves as an awards jury member for the Jean-Luc Lagadere Foundation Bursary (Paris) – for the annual animation bursary for young creators.
Shelley has a particular interest in student animation and hosts student-focused events at many major international animation festivals.
Shelley is currently a Visiting Professor (Animation) at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London, The Beijing Film Academy, Communication University of China (Beijing) and Teesside Univeristy (UK) – she is also a lecturer at the Royal College of Art (London), Bournemouth University NCCA, The National Film and Television School (UK) and CAA Hangzhou (China). Since 2007 she has been an External Examiner (Censor) at The Animation Workshop, University of Denmark.
She is also a member of the graduation juries of leading French animation schools Les Gobelins, MOPA, RUBIKA, ESMA, Ecole Georges Melies and ArtFx and she sits on the advisory boards of many other leading animation schools worldwide.
For her career achievements, Shelley has been awarded Honorary Doctorates from Kingston University (2009) and Thames Valley University (2005).
In 2011 she was awarded a Visiting Fellowship from the University of Teesside, School of Computing (UK)
